Acrylic bases, round 100 mm, clear (Green Stuff World)

A diameter of 100 mm is among the largest round bases in common use. It comes into its own under bulky figures and monsters, under small vehicles, under artillery positions and anywhere there is more than one figure on the base. Clear acrylic stays visually unobtrusive at the same time, which matters with a large area: an opaque plate of that diameter draws attention to itself, a transparent one does not. It also opens up effects that cannot be achieved otherwise, that is a hovering model carried on a transparent strut, or a base through which the game board stays visible. Use

• Peel the protective film off, if one is stuck to the acrylic, and degrease the surface to be glued.
• Glue with gel cyanoacrylate or two-part epoxy; cement for polystyrene has no effect on acrylic.
• Cyanoacrylate fumes can fog a clear surface, so glue in a well-ventilated space and with a small amount of glue.
• Mask the base while spraying the model, as overspray is hard to remove from acrylic.
• With a large diameter it pays to anchor the model with a pin; a glued surface alone may not be enough under a heavy figure.
