About product

Acrylic Display Covers 150x250 mm - a clear display cover, 22 cm high

An acrylic cover with a footprint of 150x250 mm and a height of 22 cm according to the figures in the name. Against an open shelf or a glass case with doors it has two practical advantages: the model is visible from all sides with no frames or mullions, and the cover can be lifted off at any time without having to move the rest of the collection. Against a glass case it is in turn markedly lighter and there is no risk of splinters if it falls; in exchange, acrylic is softer and scratches more easily. The larger footprint in this line gives room to longer models of vehicles, to aircraft with a wingspan, or to a smaller scene with several figures.

Use

  • Place the model or the scene on a base and fit the cover from above evenly, without tilting it.
  • With larger models, check the span and the length beforehand, including protruding parts.
  • Hold the cover by the walls; pressure on the edges is the most common cause of scuffs and scratches.
  • Rid both the inside and the model of dust with a soft brush before closing it up.
  • Do not place it in direct sunlight, as the enclosed space moreover warms up more than its surroundings.

Who it is for

For modelers who display larger individual pieces, and for collectors who want to tie a collection together with a row of covers of the same height side by side. For small figures it is needlessly large, as the smaller footprints in the same line serve them better.

Do not clean acrylic with alcohol, acetone or aggressive solvents. Use a soft dry cloth or a product meant for plastics.

FAQ

It is markedly lighter, it has no frames or doors and if it falls no splinters are created. Acrylic is however softer than glass, so it scratches more easily and calls for gentle cleaning.

The footprint is the largest in this line, so a smaller scene will fit under it. What decides is measuring both the base and the highest point of the scene and comparing them with the dimensions of the cover.

It is not recommended. Direct sunlight fades the colors and an enclosed space warms up faster than the surrounding air.

Handle the cover by the walls, not by the edges, set it down on a soft surface and use only a soft cloth for cleaning.
