AMMO of Mig Jimenez Acrylic Filter French Blue is a liquid acrylic filter for subtly tinting the surfaces of a model. The effect is built up by layering several thin passes, not by one heavy application.
Responsibility details are not available.
A filter changes the overall cast of a painted surface. It does not bring out engraving as a wash does and it does not make dirt as a pigment does — it only shifts the shade that lies beneath it. This one carries the blue shade French Blue and suits anywhere the base color is too raw and needs to be subdued or shifted into a cooler tone.
A filter is almost never done in one go. A heavy application looks like a second color and hides all the work beneath it. The right procedure is the opposite: apply a layer so light that once dry it is barely visible, let it set up and only then judge whether to add another. Two or three such layers give a deep, natural tone that cannot be imitated in a single pass. What is more, you can layer selectively — more on the lower part of the fuselage, less on the upper — and thereby create on the model a difference between surfaces that are really exposed to light in different ways.
For modelers who want control over the result and do not mind working in steps. Layering is slower than one application, but it is practically impossible to overdo — you can always stop when the tone is right.
Keep out of the reach of children. Work in a ventilated room, protect your eyes and skin and wash your hands after work. Close the bottle carefully after use.
