Aging Enamel Powder Bright Orange

The U-STAR Aging Enamel Powder Bright Orange pigment

This is a loose pigment colorant from the Aging Enamel Powder range of the U-STAR brand. It is not a paint in the sense of a bottle with a brush, nor a spray, but a fine powder that is applied mechanically to the finished and dry surface of a model. The name of the shade is given in the name of the product. Check the volume of the pot, the composition of the powder and the recommended way of further processing on the box.

Applying it with a soft brush

The basic and most common procedure with a pigment is simple. Take a soft, flat and completely dry brush with which you are not drawing shapes but applying dust. Dip the tip lightly into the powder, tap the excess off against the edge of the pot and only then touch the model. The mistake almost everyone makes the first time is picking up too much pigment at once. The powder then settles on the surface in a continuous patch that is hard to blend away to nothing. Do it the other way around: apply a little, blend it into the area and only add a second layer if the effect is weak.

A pigment holds better on a matte surface than on a glossy clear coat. On a smooth gloss it leaves visible streaks and is easily wiped off with a finger during handling. If the model is clear-coated to a gloss, expect the result to differ from one on a matte surface.

Use

• weathering finished and dry models, military vehicles, aircraft, figures and dioramas
• applied dry with a soft brush, in small doses and in several layers
• it can be combined with other shades of the same range and with other weathering products
• it holds best on a matte base and behaves worse on a glossy clear coat

Who the pigment is for

For the modeler who has the model built and painted and wants to give it its final character. Pigments are a rewarding and forgiving material, because they can largely be taken back as long as they are not fixed. That is exactly why they are a good first step for anyone starting out with weathering.

A loose powder: do not inhale it, work in a quiet place out of a draft, open the pot over a surface and wash your hands after work. Keep out of the reach of children.
