The set is aimed at dust on aircraft models. Dust is the first trace of service that shows on an aircraft: it settles on the lower surfaces, on the legs and in the bays of the landing gear, around the panel lines on the upper side of the wing and in the places where air flows from the outlets. A model grayed evenly all over looks artificial, whereas dust laid only where it really settles holds the whole impression together.
Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the package, or reach for the thinner intended for this range. Apply it a little at a time and in several steps: an excess is harder to take away than another layer is to add. Wipe the transitions in the direction of the airflow, that is from front to rear, not in circles.
Try the procedure on a piece of painted plastic first, not straight on a finished model: the effect behaves differently on a matte and on a gloss surface. Let the model dry right through before you apply it, otherwise the coat underneath will lift. Seal the finished result only once it has dried completely.
The set is for the modeler who wants an aircraft worn by service rather than just cleanly sprayed. The exact composition and the number of products are given on the package and in the manufacturer's instructions. The model, paints, brushes and an airbrush are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
