A monograph from the Warpaint book series about the British twin-engine Armstrong Whitworth Albemarle. The Warpaint series treats one aircraft type at a time, its development, its versions and its service with the individual users. The text is in English.
The Albemarle was created in the early 1940s and was designed so that its construction could do without scarce light alloys, that is mainly out of wood and steel. Power came from a pair of Bristol Hercules radial engines. It was among the first British aircraft with nosewheel landing gear in front-line service. As a bomber it did not establish itself and it found work mainly as a glider tug and as a transport aircraft for airborne operations. Some of the aircraft went to the Soviet Union. It is a type that appears in the modeling market only rarely, and for that reason there tends to be little reference on it.
The book suits a reader interested in the lesser-known British aircraft of the Second World War and also a modeler looking for reference on the shape and the finishes of particular Albemarles. It is a title to work with and to leaf through.
This is a book title. A kit, decals and accessories do not come with it, unless stated otherwise.
