A model of the attack helicopter built from the system of plastic bricks of the Polish manufacturer COBI. It is not an injection-molded plastic model: the parts are not cut from sprues, not glued, sanded or sprayed, they are merely clicked together according to pictorial instructions. The coloring of the fuselage and of the pylons is given by the shade of the bricks and by printing. With this manufacturer the Armed Forces range is reserved for contemporary military hardware.
The AH-64 is a twin-engine attack helicopter with a narrow fuselage and tandem seating, where the pilot sits higher at the rear and the systems operator at the front. Characteristic features are the short stub wings at the sides of the fuselage with their pylons, the sensor turret in the nose, fixed landing gear with a tailwheel and a four-blade main rotor. The narrow cross section of the fuselage reduces the area presented from the frontal direction, and the cockpit and the key systems are protected by design. The type has been through several generations of modernization, which differ in sensor and avionics equipment; the designation in the name of the product does not determine a particular version.
The build calls for no tools or chemicals. The narrow fuselage is sensitive to the layers seating fully home, otherwise a skew carries through into the seating of the rotor head. Fit the stub wings with their pylons only once the fuselage is finished and check that they lie in the same plane — on a thin fuselage asymmetry is visible at first glance. Leave the rotor blades, the tail boom and the small stores to the end, so they do not come loose during handling. Handle the finished model by the fuselage, not by the rotor. For permanent display a closed case is advisable.
The kit is supplied unassembled. The bricks are joined by clicking together; glue and paints are not needed to finish it and are not included in the package.
