What the set offers

An assortment of hex bolt heads in the size range 1.3 mm to 2.0 mm. It is the coarser of the two sets offered and it is aimed where the joint should be visible across the whole workshop: at the feet of towing eyes, the mounting of armor plates, axle flanges, the anchoring of crane jibs or the frames of construction and agricultural machines. You choose the individual sizes at the model, so you can grade the hardware according to how heavily it is stressed.

How to choose the size

Multiply the dimension in millimeters by the figure of the scale and compare the result with the subject. In 1:35 scale the extreme sizes of this package work out at roughly forty-five and seventy millimeters, in 1:24 scale at thirty-one and forty-eight. In large scales around 1:16 the ratio is still more favorable, and it is precisely there that the range comes into its own most.

Building and painting tips

With larger parts regularity is what decides. Mark the spacing out with a pencil or lay a strip of paper tape against it and glue along its edge. Meter a drop of cyanoacrylate glue onto the model, carry the part with tweezers and leave it undisturbed for a while before you start working around it. Painting is done only after gluing: a dark wash settled around the foot of the head separates the shape from the surface and a fine lightening of the high points draws out the edges of the hex. On coarse hardware a slight wear and a hint of rust also look faithful.
