Eight tenths of a millimeter is one of the most widely carried sizes from this manufacturer. A low hex head in this grade works as a universal working dimension for most builds.
Responsibility details are not available.
This manufacturer's dimensional scale is not occupied evenly. In the lower part, where eight tenths of a millimeter belongs, the size is offered in more than twenty different head versions, whereas above the twelve-tenth mark only a handful of them continue. The practical consequence is pleasant: in this grade you pick the shape that suits you instead of taking what is left.
In 1:35 it corresponds to a real head of around twenty-eight millimeters, that is to a proper bolt on a vehicle frame. In 1:24 it works out at just under two centimeters, and that is a typical joint on a car engine. In 1:12 it becomes a small bolt on instruments and wiring. One size thus serves three completely different kinds of build, only in a different role each time.
Anyone who gets this size usually comes back to it. It therefore pays to set part of the stock aside and not use it all up on a single project, because it is precisely this grade that runs out fastest of all. It is also practical to note down where you used which size. With a later repair or the filling in of a damaged place you then do not have to guess and the build carries on without delay.
