Thirteen tenths of a millimeter is the first grade of the coarser half of the selection. A low hex head in this size already belongs to the scales in which a joint is a full detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
This manufacturer's dimensional selection has a distinct divide. Up to twelve tenths of a millimeter it is densely occupied and you will find dozens of variants of head shape there, but it is precisely from thirteen tenths that the number of versions offered falls sharply. This grade is therefore the first at which the choice stops being a matter of course and at which it pays to know what shape you are looking for before you start building.
Builders who work in 1:12 and coarser scales. A motorcycle, a racing car in a large version, an articulated machine or a figure in a large scale has joints that the viewer perceives separately and compares with each other. Smaller sizes would blend into the surface on such a model and all the work with them would come to nothing. In 1:35, by contrast, the same part would represent a bolt over four centimeters in diameter.
If a builder reaches for this grade, they usually already know why. That is exactly why with the larger sizes it pays to devote more time to the layout than to the gluing itself: a mistake in the spacing is visible here much sooner than on small heads from the lower part of the scale.
