Basing Sets - Swamp

Basing Sets - Swamp

Basing Sets - Swamp is a themed Green Stuff World set meant for finishing the bases of figures and models into a swamp setting. It is a set of aids concentrated on one type of landscape, so the laborious assembling of materials from individual items falls away. The exact make-up is stated by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set.

The swamp as a theme

Of the landscape themes a swamp base is the most demanding in discipline. What decides is the gloss: a wet area has to be glossy and the ground around it matte, and it is exactly that difference that makes the impression of water. When everything is glossy, the effect is lost. In color a swamp keeps to murky greenish and brownish tones, into which only a few lighter points should be brought so that the area is not monotonous. Water areas are best built in thin layers, each left to mature thoroughly.

How to approach it

• Build water areas in thin layers, not all at once.
• Watch the difference between a glossy surface and matte surroundings.
• Keep a murky, muted palette so that the result looks natural.
• Unify the theme across a unit, so that the formation reads as a whole.

Who the set is for

For players of tabletop battle games and collectors of figures who want to give their bases the character of a wetland, and for modelers who dare to take on small water areas. The Green Stuff World range covers further landscape themes as well, so the individual parts of a collection can be told apart by their setting.
