Abteilung 502 Black Smoke

Black Smoke is a fine weathering pigment (a loose powder) from Abteilung 502 in a practical container. It serves for weathering models and dioramas, specifically for imitating dark smoke and soot marks. It is not an opaque paint but a pigment that is applied to a finished, painted model.

Use

  • Soot marks behind exhausts, at gun muzzles and on engines
  • Burnt and smoke-blackened areas on vehicles, chimneys and fire pits in a diorama
  • Applied dry with a soft brush and sealed with a pigment fixer or mineral spirits
  • It can also be mixed into liquid washes and effects for dark soiling

For modelers and diorama builders who want to pick out burnt and smoke-blackened surfaces realistically. The pigment is versatile for vehicles, aircraft and figure scenes alike.

The pigment is a fine powder: do not inhale it and work in a well-ventilated space. Keep out of the reach of children.

FAQ

It is a weathering pigment, that is, a fine loose powder. It does not have the covering power of an ordinary paint and is applied to a finished, painted model.

After applying it dry, you fix it with a pigment fixer or mineral spirits, or else mix it into a liquid effect.

For soot behind exhausts, at gun muzzles, on burnt areas of vehicles, chimneys and fire pits in a diorama.
