Modeling wire in a blue form, of 0.3 mm diameter and in a length of 1 meter. It belongs among the materials for building from which a modeler makes what is missing in a kit or what is done too coarsely in it.

Where you will use the wire

Thin colored wire serves most often as cabling. It is led from the ignition to the cylinders of an engine, along the walls of a cabin, in landing gear bays, over the engine compartment of a car and between the instruments on a dashboard. The color is not merely decoration: when you set the individual circuits apart, the result looks orderly and a viewer sees that the wiring leads somewhere. It also comes into its own as handles and loops on small fittings, as control rods or as a reinforcement of fragile joints, where it is sunk into a drilled hole and strengthens the joint.

Working with the wire

• cut it with side cutters, as the blade of a knife will only flatten the wire and go blunt
• first straighten the one-meter coil by pulling it over a rounded edge, not by bending it
• make bends around a round object, as a sharp kink will crack the material
• glue with super glue, ideally into a drilled hole, not butt on
• degrease the surface before painting, so that the paint does not slide off

Who it is for

It suits a builder of aircraft and of vehicles who is adding details beyond the kit, and just as well for repairs and conversions. A length of 1 meter is enough for several models, because only short pieces are cut off.
