About product

Brass hexagonal rods 1.0 mm — Aber building material

A package of two brass rods of hexagonal section measuring 1.0 mm and 245 mm long from the Polish manufacturer Aber. A hexagonal section is the basic raw material for making scale bolts, nuts and other technical details that are often missing on models or only suggested.

Use

  • Cutting off thin slices produces nuts and bolt heads for equipment and dioramas.
  • Imitations of hexagonal rods, bolts and fasteners on chassis and suspensions.
  • Scratchbuilding: structures, brackets, fittings and small mechanisms.
  • Combining with other brass sections, tubes and wire when reworking models.

Who the material is for

For modelers who detail equipment in any scale and want real three-dimensional bolts and nuts instead of molded suggestions. Brass is easy to cut, file and drill, holds its shape and can be soldered as well as glued with cyanoacrylate glue; unlike plastic, the slices do not deform as they are cut off. Two rods of 245 mm are enough for hundreds of small details, so the package will serve for many building projects.

Material for further work; before painting, degrease the brass and use a primer with adhesion to metals. Keep small offcuts out of the reach of children.

FAQ

Clamp the rod and cut thin slices off with a sharp knife, a saw or a razor saw; every slice is a finished hexagonal nut or bolt head. Sand the cut lightly.

Best of all with cyanoacrylate glue, and with epoxy for larger joints. Brass can also be soldered, which comes in useful when joining metal structures.

Yes, it is the size of the hexagonal section of the rod. The package holds two rods, each 245 mm long.
