This is a semi-finished material for building, a set of hollow brass tubes 1.3 mm in diameter in a package of five. Brass has two fundamental advantages over plastic: the mouth of the tube is genuinely hollow and thin-walled, so a barrel, an exhaust or a hydraulic pipe looks convincing on a model, and the material is strong, so a protruding detail does not break off at every touch. The tubes can be shortened, bent and slid into one another to make telescopic assemblies.

Use

• Barrels and gun muzzles, exhausts, protective tubes and guide rails on vehicles and aircraft.
• Hydraulic and fuel lines in landing gear bays and engines.
• Grab handles, antennas, masts and railings on ship and diorama builds.
• Sleeves and couplings, as a thicker tube serves as a transition between two thinner wires.

Work tips

• Cut with a modeling saw or a knife while turning the tube continuously, so that the mouth is not squashed.
• Deburr the edge inside and out; a few turns of a drill bit or a needle file are enough.
• It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and soft solder gives a stronger joint.
• Degrease the brass before painting and go over it with a primer for metals, otherwise the paint holds badly.
