A 0.9 mm armored bolt with flats for a wrench from the brand GAS HANS holds 128 printed heads. The diameter of the head is 0.9 mm and the mounting hole is drilled at six tenths of a millimeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
Against the neighboring 0.8 mm only a tenth of a millimeter is added, but visually the difference shows: the head already holds a shadow of its own and seen from above its polygonal outline can be made out. The box holds 128 pieces, that is fewer than with the smaller sizes, because this diameter is usually set more sparsely, in exposed places rather than in dense rows.
Converted to reality it is a head roughly 3.2 cm wide in 1:35, and as much as 4.3 cm in 1:48. Joints like that appeared on heavy front plates, on the mountings of towing eyes, on the lids of engine compartments and on the feet of suspension units. It also serves well where a model is meant to show clearly that a joint can be taken apart.
Against the 0.8 mm not only the diameter changes but the tool as well: instead of five tenths of a millimeter you drill at six. Against the one-millimeter size, by contrast, the 0.9 mm is noticeably smaller and fits better into the whole where a joint is meant to be visible but not dominant. Anyone building a single model will usually get by with one of these three diameters; anyone building a series will appreciate being able to alternate between them according to the thickness of the plate.
