Abteilung 502 Clay Soil — a dry weathering pigment

A dry modeling pigment from Abteilung 502 in the form of a very fine colored powder. It is neither a paint nor a kit, but a weathering product for adding patina. The Clay Soil shade is a light yellow-brown that evokes dry clay and loamy soil, so it suits dusty surfaces, deposits of pale earth on the running gear, fenders and undersides of vehicles, and diorama groundwork too. The pigment is supplied in a jar and applied dry with a soft brush; it settles in the recesses and engraved detail, where it builds a pale layer of soil. Finally it is sealed.

Use

• Brush the fine powder onto the running gear, the fenders and any surface covered with dry pale earth.
• Seal it with a pigment fixer or with mineral spirits; once dry, the effect stays put.
• Combine it with darker earth and mud shades for a natural depth of deposit.
• Mixed with the fixer you can make a paste for denser deposits of clay soil.
• Suitable for armored vehicles, military vehicles and dioramas with dry pale soil.
