A set for building cornflowers for a diorama. According to the product name it is made up of plastic parts and parts of laser-cut paper, which assemble into individual plants. The set carries the manufacturer's part number A.MIG-8468 and is intended for 1:48, 1:35 and 1:32 scale. The number of plants and the exact make-up are given on the box and in the manufacturer's instructions.
The cornflower is a field plant that grows in grain crops and on field margins, and in a diorama it therefore fits naturally into a European landscape, at the edge of a road and beside abandoned hardware growing over with grass. At the same time the small blue flowers break up a uniform green and draw the viewer's eye where you need it. They are used in small groups rather than in a continuous band.
Ease the paper parts carefully out of the sheet; a laser cut holds at only a few points, so gentle pressure is enough. Shape the leaves and petals slightly between your fingers or with tweezers before fitting them, so that they do not stay flat. They are glued with super glue applied in a small amount, and for the paper parts PVA glue will do as well. The cornflower has deep blue to blue-violet flowers and gray-green leaves and stems; take the painting in that direction if you are matching the shades to the surrounding vegetation. Plant the finished plants in the base before you scatter the surrounding grass, so that no bare patches are left around the stems.
For builders of dioramas and display case scenes who want to add flowering plants beyond the grass. The set holds only the stated material; a base, paints, glue and models are not included, unless stated otherwise.
