Alclad II Enamel Dark Compass Grey is a darker gray enamel shade thinned with solvent, intended for the two-color gray schemes of modern aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
Dark Compass Grey is the darker member of the group of modern aviation grays from the Alclad enamel range. The range also has its lighter counterpart, because gray schemes tend to be made up of two close tones: the darker one above, the lighter one on the lower surfaces and in the places where less light falls. The paint is a synthetic enamel thinned with solvent, not an acrylic and not a lacquer.
With schemes made up of two related grays it usually pays to start with the lighter shade, let it cure and spray the darker one through a mask. The darker tone covers any overrun better and a repair is less conspicuous than the other way round. The boundary between the shades on modern aircraft tends to be fairly sharp, so good masking tape with its edge pressed down against the surface comes in useful, so that the paint does not creep under.
For modelers of modern jet aircraft who build gray schemes and want both tones from the same range, with identical behavior while spraying and drying.
The product contains flammable solvents. Work in a well ventilated space, away from open flame and out of the reach of children.
