Replacement wheels for the Soviet three-axle truck GAZ-AAA in 1:35. Seven parts including a spare.
Responsibility details are not available.
The GAZ-AAA was a three-and-a-half-ton truck with two driven rear axles, derived from the licensed version of an American vehicle produced in Gorky. In the nineteen thirties and forties it carried ammunition, towed guns and men, served as the chassis of armored cars and as the carrier of the most varied bodies. That is exactly why it turns up on dioramas more often than many a tank.
The contents are two front wheels, four rear wheel assemblies and one spare, seven parts in all. The rear axle of the vehicle was doubled, so the four rear assemblies match reality, and the spare is a welcome addition; it used to be fastened on the side of the cargo bed or underneath it.
Sinking in. New wheels out of the box stand on the ground as if on glass. It is enough to sink them a fraction into mud or sand and the vehicle gains weight at once.
A track in the ground. Behind a sunken wheel an imprint has to remain. Press it into the still soft ground with the part itself, before you paint it.
Rubber and rim. Never use pure black. A grayish to brownish shade with dust on the sidewalls looks more convincing and goes better with the color of the cab.
A check against a figure. When a figure stands by the vehicle, the height of the wheel axle is the quickest check of whether the scale fits. On a three-axle vehicle the wheel comes roughly to the waist of a grown man.
