Mounted musketeers of the royal guard in 1:72 scale. The elite escort of the French monarch of the seventeenth century, a rewarding subject for a scene at a chateau or on the road.
Responsibility details are not available.
The company of mounted musketeers was formed under Louis XIII and made up the personal escort of the monarch. Its members came mostly from the poorer nobility, served both in the saddle and on foot, and wore the loose cloak called a casaque with a large cross, by which they were recognized at a distance. Although literature made them most famous, this was a real fighting unit committed at sieges as well as in the field.
This set suits a scene that does not show a clash but an episode from life. A carriage in front of a gate, a group of riders in a street or an arrival in a courtyard are situations where the figures work as a scale for the architecture and as a narrative at the same time. Different turns of the heads and positions of the hands mean more here than the number of figures, because the viewer's attention is directed by a gesture and not by quantity.
The castings are supplied without paints, a base or additional terrain.
They go well with foot figures of the same century and with models of wagons, because a scene in an urban setting needs more than soldiers alone.
