What the set contains

This is a set of figures of Spanish infantry in 1:72 scale. An adult figure measures roughly twenty-five millimeters at this scale, so in size the figures match vehicles, buildings and accessories of the same scale and can be combined with them in a common scene. The number of pieces, the division into poses and the material are given on the packaging and in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.

Preparation before painting

First rid the figures of excess material and of the marks of production: cut them off with a sharp blade a little away from the surface and smooth the rest with a fine abrasive, so that the relief of the equipment does not disappear. Then wash them in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry thoroughly, because otherwise the paint holds badly on a greasy surface. Choose a suitable glue for joining the parts and fixing them to a base according to the material the manufacturer states.

Painting tips

Apply the base coat in a thin layer, because a thick layer floods the small relief. At this scale the result is carried mainly by contrast, so a dark wash into the folds and a light lightening of the raised surfaces have proved themselves; the eyes are not painted, as the figure is too small for that. Go over the finished figures with a matte varnish, which unifies the surface and protects the paint in handling.
