A model of the British two-seat Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I fighter aircraft with a gun turret, 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boulton Paul Defiant was a British two-seat fighter aircraft of the beginning of the Second World War, built on an unusual idea: it had all its armament concentrated in a rotating gun turret behind the pilot's cockpit, namely four 7.7 mm machine guns. It did not fire forward at all. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12, that is the same family of engines as on the Hurricane and the Spitfire.
At first the Defiant surprised its opponents, because from behind they mistook it for a single-seat fighter, but as soon as the enemy knew about the turret the advantage turned against it, and daytime operations cost the crews heavy losses. The type then found a use in the night role and in auxiliary tasks. For a modeler it is an aircraft that catches the eye at once on a shelf among the usual fighters, precisely because of the shape of its back with the turret.
The turret and the glazing around it deserve the most attention. Try the parts dry first and only then glue them; a turret seated out of true is visible from every angle on a finished model. Mask the glazing before spraying and do not touch it with bare fingers. Wash and degrease the whole surface before painting, so that the paint holds. The manufacturer's instructions give the order of assembly and the recommended glue.
For modelers of the Royal Air Force and for collectors of less usual types of the beginning of the war. Paints, glue and other building material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
