A rolled mattress is a mattress that is on its way somewhere. Rolled up and tied, it is carried on a truck bed, stacked into the corner of a store or taken out of a house. On a diorama it therefore carries a different message from a made bed: it speaks of movement, of evacuation or of makeshift arrangements.
The set brings rolled mattresses in 1:35 scale. The shape of the rolls is modeled including the folds of cloth at the ends and the sagging between the ties, so the parts do not look like smooth cylinders. The individual rolls can be lined up side by side, stacked into a pile or one of them left lying loose to one side.
The accessory calls for no assembly, but preparing the surface pays off:
What does the most is working with shadows. A darker glaze run between the coils and under the ties will separate the individual layers, while a lighter dry brush along the tops will on the contrary draw the texture of the cloth out. If you divide the rolls into two or three shades and dust the undersides according to the terrain, the set will stop looking like a repeated casting.
