Reeds grow where there is water or at least wet ground: along the banks of rivers and ponds, in flooded ditches by tracks, in marshes and in the places where vehicles ford. On a diorama they are therefore doubly useful. They give away that the terrain is waterlogged, and at the same time they set up a vertical element that breaks the horizontal of the water and the flat of the base. A column stuck in a marsh or an amphibious machine driving into the water look entirely different with growth at the bank than on bare terrain.
This is a scenic accessory for dioramas in 1:35 scale, that is in the most common scale of military vehicles and figures. It is given with a size of 80 x 70 mm. How many stems you plant from it and how large a piece of bank you cover depends on the density of the growth; the material of the parts and the recommended procedure are given in the manufacturer's description and instructions.
Plant the reeds in clusters of unequal height and most densely where it is meant to be shallowest, that is at the very edge of the water. Do not leave the stems upright like a fence; lean some of them one way, as if the wind had bent them, and break a few. In color it pays to go from a darker green tone at the bottom to a lighter, yellowish one at the top, while with dry growth keep the whole area in ocher tones instead. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and according to the manufacturer's instructions. Sink the bottom of the stems into the terrain and cover the transition to the surface of the water with a small deposit, so that the growth does not come out of the water as if stuck on.
The base of a diorama, terrain materials, the material for the water surface, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
