An accessory for a diorama in 1:48 scale with the single theme the name gives: a carrier-based helicopter, that is, a machine operated from a ship's deck.
Carrier-based helicopters differ from land-based ones in what they are built for. They tend to be arranged for folding the rotor blades, often the tail boom as well, so that they fit into the hangar below deck; they take a hard touchdown on a pitching surface and they have tie-down points, because the swell would otherwise shift them. They serve for anti-submarine patrol, for carrying cargo between ships and for rescuing crews, so they often carry conspicuous color markings to be clearly visible from the deck.
