A masking set for the late framed canopy of the Bf 109 G-6 model in 1:48 scale, for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the Bf 109 the canopy frames are narrow and angular, so masking them by hand with tape is slow and rarely comes out exactly right. The masks in this set have an outline that follows the parts of the kit, that is the Bf 109 G-6 model in 1:48 scale from Tamiya, and they are tied to the late framed version of the canopy. How many masks the set holds is worth checking against the manufacturer's information.
The Bf 109 G-6 is the most widespread version of the German Bf 109 fighter. It is powered by a liquid-cooled DB 605 inverted V12 and above the engine it carries prominent fairings over the breeches of the cowl guns, by which the version is recognized at first glance. On machines of this version the cockpit came in two forms: the older framed version and the later canopy with fewer frames.
The set is tied to the framed canopy, not to its later form without transverse frames. Before buying, make sure which version of the canopy you want to use on the model. Apply the masks to washed and degreased glazing before spraying, press the edges down with a blunt point and lay the paint on in thin coats. Take them off shortly after the paint has dried, because later the finish cracks at the edge. The inside of the frames is usually sprayed in the cockpit color before the canopy is fixed into the fuselage.
A masking set is supplied. The kit, paints, glue and decals are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
