The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 is one of the most widespread versions of the German fighter of the Second World War. Late machines were given a canopy with less divided framing, which became established under the designation Erla. This masking set is cut to its shape, so the individual parts sit on the frames of the glazing without any further adjustment.
In the package there are pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the canopy glazing in 1:48 scale. The TFace version means that the masks are prepared for both sides of the glazing, that is for the inner side as well. You will appreciate masking on the inside wherever you leave the cockpit open and the interior is visible. The parts match the shapes of the Tamiya kit; on models from other makers the division of the frames may differ.
Wash and degrease the glazing first, and apply the masks before spraying. Lift the individual parts off with pointed tweezers or a toothpick, lay them on the frame and press the edges down firmly, so that paint does not creep under them. Apply the paint in several thin coats, because a single heavy coat creates a step at the edge of the mask. Once it has dried, take the masks off at a shallow angle, lifting a corner with the tip of a scalpel.
The set suits anyone who wants crisp frames on the glazing and does not want to cut them out of tape by hand. Even a beginner will manage it, because all the work consists of sticking the parts on and taking them off. The package contains only the masking set; the kit, paints and glue are not supplied with it, unless stated otherwise.
