Napoleonic Russian infantry in action 1:72 (HaT) is a set of 40 unpainted plastic figures of Russian musketeers in combat poses.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of unpainted figures in 1:72 scale from HaT. The box holds 40 figures of Russian line infantry of the Napoleonic Wars, divided into five poses: advancing, firing and loading. The figures are injection-molded from a medium-hard plastic in a single green shade. Five poses across forty pieces means that one box will build a whole detachment, even in close order, where the repetition of the stances is lost.
The figures match the Russian infantry under the regulations introduced at the beginning of 1812, that is, the army that fought on to the end of the war. The soldier wears a double-breasted coat, trousers joined to gaiters and a square infantry pack. The most conspicuous feature is the shako, the tall cap with a concave top that the army adopted in that same year of 1812. A single grenade on the front plate marks the musketeers, that is, the ordinary line battalions, not the grenadiers. In these years the Russian infantry earned a reputation as a tenacious opponent that bore heavy losses and relied on the bayonet charge.
Medium-hard plastic holds paint less well than hard polystyrene. Wash the figures in warm soapy water before painting, let them dry completely and use a flexible primer intended for softer plastics. Trim the flash on the parting line with a sharp knife rather than sanding it. A light base is worth laying down on the green figures, otherwise the underlying color shows through into the shades of the uniform.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
