A plastic kit of the American M10 Tank Destroyer in the large 1:16 scale. It is a new tooling (2023) from the workshop of Andy's Hobby Headquarters, created in cooperation with the Takom brand. The large format leaves room for rich detail: the model comes with a metal gun barrel, individual track links, a well-worked fighting compartment with an open turret, and figures.
The M10, nicknamed Wolverine, was an American tank destroyer used in the Second World War. It was created on a modified chassis of the M4 Sherman medium tank and carried a 76.2 mm gun in an open, hand-traversed turret. The open top of the turret improved the view out, but it exposed the crew to shell splinters and the weather. The M10 served on the European and Mediterranean battlefields and became one of the main American anti-tank assets.
On armored vehicles we recommend assembling and painting the running gear, the tracks and the interior of the fighting compartment before you close the hull up, as they are hard to reach later. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and apply a primer before painting. Ideally apply the paint with an airbrush; the open turret of the M10 positively invites you to paint the details inside. You create the final patina with washes into the recesses and with pigments for the effect of mud and dust on the running gear and the lower hull. In the large 1:16 scale even fine transitions and worn paint come out well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
