The instrument panel of the Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1 fighter in 1:2 scale, that is, at half the size of the real thing. A display piece in its own right, not a model of the whole aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first series-built jet fighter to be used in combat. The A-series version carried four 30 mm cannon in the nose and is known under the name Schwalbe. The pilot sat in a narrow cockpit above the nose landing gear and in front of him he had an instrument panel on which, in one single cutout, the instruments for flying, for watching both engines and for controlling the armament came together. That panel is the subject of this item.
The instrument panel of the Me 262 A-1 in 1:2 scale, that is, at half the size of the real panel. The large scale makes it a display piece in its own right: the individual instruments, their dials and their labels are legible without a magnifier and the panel works in a display case on its own, or as an accessory beside a model of the aircraft. It is supplied to be assembled and painted. The contents of the package and the procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
In a large scale every unevenness shows, so clean the mating surfaces up carefully before gluing and cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part. Wash and degrease the surface before painting and lay down a uniform base. Bring the dark areas of the panel to life with light drybrushing on the edges and on the controls the pilot touched most often. The instruments look convincing when their glass is suggested with a drop of gloss varnish only once the dial has dried.
Paints, glue, thinner and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
