IAR-81 BoPi in 1:32 scale — a plastic kit of the Romanian fighter and dive bomber of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Romanian aircraft IAR-81 BoPi in the large 1:32 scale. It is a more demanding model intended rather for more advanced modelers; for the exact contents of the box and the markings offered, follow the enclosed instructions.
The IAR-80 and the IAR-81 derived from it were Romanian fighter aircraft built during the Second World War, following on structurally from the fuselage of the Polish PZL P.24 fighter. The IAR-81 BoPi version (from the Romanian Bombardament in Picaj, meaning dive bombing) was adapted for the dive bomber role: it carried a swinging bomb rack under the fuselage and additional racks on the wings. The Romanian IAR-80 and IAR-81 were deployed as frontline fighters, as dive bombers and as interceptors against Allied raids on the oil fields at Ploiesti. They were powered by an air-cooled IAR radial engine.
The large 1:32 scale rewards careful work on the surface and the details. Clean the parts up with a sharp knife and fine sanding paper and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic; glue any resin or photo-etched accessories with super glue. Apply a primer before painting and work with an airbrush, as that is how the multi-tone Romanian camouflage comes out best, and unify the surface at the end with a matte clear coat and weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
