The set contains a turned barrel for the 122 mm D-49 gun and a barrel for the 14.5 mm KPVT heavy machine gun, which replace the plastic parts of the base model. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an upgrade accessory for models of the SU-122-54 self-propelled gun.
The SU-122-54 was a Soviet postwar self-propelled gun built on the chassis of the T-54 tank. It was not a machine produced in large numbers; the main armament was a 122 mm gun supplemented by 14.5 mm heavy machine guns. The turned barrel with a hollow muzzle faithfully captures the profile of the real weapon.
Degrease the metal parts before gluing and fit them with super glue (cyanoacrylate), or on a pin. Hollow muzzles and precise geometry do away with the sanding of seams that plastic barrels call for. Coat the metal with a good primer before painting, so that the paint holds well.
The accessory is meant to upgrade a plastic kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
