A kit of the Befehlspanzer 38H command tank in 1:35 scale, meaning the German command version of the captured French Hotchkiss light tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
After the defeat of France in 1940 the German army acquired a large amount of captured equipment, and it would have been a waste to leave it standing. Among the seized machines were Hotchkiss light tanks, which the Germans took into their own inventory under the designation 38H and used mainly with second-line and occupation units. The command form, the Befehlspanzer, additionally received radio equipment for directing a unit, and with it a conspicuous antenna. It is precisely that form that makes an otherwise unremarkable light tank a rewarding subject.
It is a kit of the vehicle in 1:35 scale, meaning the most widespread scale for ground equipment. Once finished, the model goes with the ordinary range of figures and accessories in the same scale, so it can be set into a scene without difficulty. The number of parts, the contents of the box and the building sequence are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
A small vehicle forgives fewer mistakes than a large one, because every inaccuracy shows on a small surface. Dry fit the joints in advance, fill them and sand them down. The antenna and the fine elements are the most vulnerable, so leave them until the end of the build. Wash and degrease the whole model before painting, then apply a primer, otherwise the shade will rub through during handling. In German service, captured vehicles wore their own insignia and prominent recognition crosses, so that friendly units would not mistake them for French machines.
The kit suits collectors of German equipment and builders who like less usual vehicles. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
