An injection-molded plastic kit of the German motorcycle with a sidecar in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker IBG Models. The 3in1 form concentrates on the civilian appearance of the machine and also offers the variant later taken into service by the Wehrmacht. Compared with the purely military set it differs in markings and in a form without heavy armament. The model has a detailed frame, engine, sidecar interior and injection-molded spoked wheels.
The BMW R12 was a popular German motorcycle of the 1930s and 1940s with a flat-twin engine and shaft drive. It was created as a civilian machine and served for ordinary transport in peace as well as in war; a large part of the examples, however, were gradually requisitioned and put to use by the army. It is precisely this transition from civilian to military use that the set illustrates well.
Use a thin cement for plastic and build in subassemblies. Clean up the frame and the engine carefully and glue the small parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The civilian version allows more varied color schemes with a gloss finish, unlike a uniform military gray; apply a primer and paint with an airbrush. Bring out the chrome fittings with a metallic paint and keep the weathering restrained to suit the form you have chosen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
