This plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Meng captures the British Mastiff 2 wheeled armored vehicle in the 6X6 configuration. The set contains injection-molded plastic parts, clear parts for the thick bulletproof windows, photo-etched parts and rubber tires with the tread pattern marked. The interior of the cab and of the crew compartment is worked out as well.
The Mastiff 2 is the British version of the heavily armored patrol vehicle of the MRAP category, derived from the American Cougar platform. Its characteristic feature is the V-shaped lower hull, which deflects the blast wave of mines and improvised charges away from the crew. The vehicle served with British units on overseas operations as a protected carrier and a patrol asset.
Finish and paint the interior before closing up the hull. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic joints, spray the whole with a primer and shade it with an airbrush. Desert and green camouflages come out well with washes and pigments that emphasize the dust and mud effects on the chassis and the sides.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
