An injection-molded plastic kit of the British main battle tank Challenger 1 in the Mk.3 version in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It is a new tooling, richly divided and with a high parts count; the kit is rounded out with individual track links and photo-etched parts. Check the exact package contents and the marking options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Challenger 1 (FV4030/4) was the first tank of the Challenger family in the British army. In design it grew out of the Shir 2 project originally developed for Iran, and it was taken into British Army service in 1983. It was marked out by Chobham composite armor, a 120 mm rifled gun and a diesel engine. It proved itself above all in the Gulf War of 1991; the Mk.3 is a later upgrade with improvements.
Reckon with a patient build of the running gear — assemble and glue the individual track links in longer runs and let them dry before fitting them. Finish and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close the hull up. Bring out the Gulf War desert scheme with a dark wash into the panel seams and add dust and sand effects with pigments on the running gear and the lower surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
