This injection-molded plastic kit captures the Soviet armored personnel carrier BTR-70 in 1:35 scale. The model is made up of several sprues of gray plastic and concentrates on the characteristic hull with its eight wheels and on the small turret with its armament. It is intended to be built and painted by the modeler, and the parts follow one another without any need for major reworking.
The BTR-70 is an eight-wheeled amphibious armored personnel carrier that followed the older BTR-60 in the Soviet army. It carried an infantry squad under the protection of light armor, it was powered by a pair of gasoline engines, and in water it moved by means of a water jet. It was used from the second half of the seventies and became one of the typical vehicles of motor rifle units, among other places in the Afghan conflict.
We recommend first assembling and, if necessary, fine-tuning the running gear and the wheels, because reaching them is difficult once the hull is closed. Join the plastic with liquid modeling cement and sand the seams down once they have dried. Apply a primer before painting, spray the shades with an airbrush, and for the faithful look of a vehicle in the field add washes in the recesses, dust and mud pigments on the chassis and light scuffing on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
