A plastic kit of the Russian BTR-80A wheeled armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. The BTR-80A is the variant of the BTR-80 carrier fitted with a new turret with a 30 mm autocannon and a coaxial PKT machine gun; the version has eight-wheel (8x8) drive. The kit offers a detailed hull, turret and rubber tires and can be built out of the box. The finished model measures roughly 21 cm in length.
The BTR-80 is an amphibious wheeled carrier developed in the 1980s as a continuation of the BTR line. It is used to carry an infantry squad and to give it fire support; it can swim and is driven by a single diesel engine. The BTR-80A version strengthened the armament with a 30 mm autocannon in a turret that allowed higher elevation, which raised the ability to destroy lightly armored targets as well as low-flying air targets.
It is advisable to build in subassemblies; the rubber tires can be painted and weathered separately. The model comes out well in modern Russian green with a wash in the recesses and dust pigments on the lower body and the wheels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
