A plastic kit of a medium tank in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian brand MiniArt. The designation Maybach T-IV H was used by the Bulgarian army for the Panzer IV medium tank in the Ausf. H version, which entered its inventory during the Second World War. The box thus offers a particular user variant of a well-known type; the contents of the package, the number of parts and the color schemes offered are given in the enclosed instructions.
The Panzer IV was a medium tank produced in several progressively modified versions. The Ausf. H configuration belonged to the late batches and was marked by a 75 mm gun with a long barrel, thicker frontal hull armor and usually also add-on side skirts on the hull and the turret, which were meant to protect against shaped-charge projectiles. Power came from a gasoline V12, and the transmission was at the front together with the drive sprockets. The Bulgarian vehicles gradually came to differ from the original deliveries in changes to their equipment and markings.
Assemble and paint the running gear before you close up the hull, as access between the wheels is difficult later. The side skirts are thin and easily damaged, so glue them on at the very end and rather leave some of them loose, or leave a few off altogether, as was common in service. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats over a filling primer. The camouflage scheme is easier to do with soft transitions than with a hard edge, unless you have a reliable reference. Build the weathering from the bottom up: dust and mud on the running gear, fine streaking into the welds and rivets, chipping on the edges of the hatches and on the surfaces the crew would normally climb over.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
