Covers for the Marder II in 1:35 scale are a resin detail accessory from Royal Model with which the open fighting compartment of the tank destroyer is covered over.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings an imitation of canvas arranged in folds just as it hung over the edge of the superstructure and over the gun. It is cast in resin and is an accessory to a finished kit, not a standalone model of the vehicle. Its purpose is to break the bareness of the open compartment and give the machine a lived-in, used look.
The Marder II came about in 1942 as a quick answer to the Soviet tanks against which the light Panzer II could no longer do anything. The designers set a superstructure with a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun on its chassis and obtained a machine with excellent firepower but with thin armor and an open roof. The crew was vulnerable from above to splinters and to the weather, so they wrapped the vehicle in tarpaulins, canvas sheets and crates. It was used mainly on the Eastern Front and was built until 1943, when more modern designs took its place.
Try the casting dry first, because individual kits differ slightly in the width of the superstructure and it is better to take material off the back of the cover than off the model. Join with cyanoacrylate, fill any gaps with putty and run a needle over them so that the texture of the fabric continues. Set the cover apart from the vehicle in color: a dirty beige or gray-green with a wash into the folds looks more faithful than the shade of the hull, because canvas changes tone differently from painted sheet metal as it fades and weathers.
