Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri light helicopter from the manufacturer MiniArt. The model combines injection-molded plastic with photo-etched parts and clear sections; the decal sheet offers several marking options. Given the delicate construction of the rotors and of the tubular frame, the model is recommended to more advanced modelers.
The Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri, meaning hummingbird, was a single-seat helicopter with a pair of intermeshing rotors, a so-called synchropter, designed by Anton Flettner. It became the first series-produced helicopter in the world. Among other things it was intended for reconnaissance and for transport between ships; after the war several machines were captured and tested by the Allies.
The thin rotor blades and the exposed tubular structure call for careful cleaning up and gluing. We recommend thin cement for plastic, super glue for the small photo-etched parts and airbrush painting over a primer. The open frame comes into its own with careful emphasis of the details using washes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
