An injection-molded plastic kit of the light Soviet truck GAZ-MM in the wartime Mod.1943 form in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. It is an unassembled and unpainted model with the simplified angular cab in which the vehicle was produced in the austere wartime period. The package contains plastic sprues and a decal sheet; the exact number of parts and schemes is on the box.
The GAZ-MM was the militarized variant of the legendary poltorka GAZ-AA, that is of the truck with a load capacity of 1.5 tons derived under license from Ford. It was powered by an inline four-cylinder engine of around 50 horsepower. The Mod.1943 version came about at a time of material shortage: it was given a simplified cab of wood and sheet metal, often only one headlight, drop sides and austerely designed doors. Vehicles of this type formed the backbone of the Red Army's supply, carried men and materiel and towed light guns.
Finish the frame, the axles and the running gear first, and only then close up the cab and the cargo bed. The wooden planks of the cargo bed will show to advantage under a thin brown wash run into the joints. The typical finish is a uniform protective green; mud and dust pigments on the chassis and the lower areas will add realism. A matte clear coat will unify the whole.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
