The injection-molded plastic kit German Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.A ohne Aufbau in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss, the German training chassis without superstructure or turret.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.A vehicle in the ohne Aufbau form, that is without superstructure or turret, in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model therefore captures only the bare chassis with an open, fully accessible interior, running gear and engine compartment. The box holds photo-etched parts and decals; check the manufacturer's instructions for the exact contents and the number of parts.
The designation ohne Aufbau means without superstructure. The Treaty of Versailles forbade Germany to build tanks, and so several hulls without superstructure or turret came about, used as training and school vehicles. The open Ausf.A chassis without an enclosed hull gave room for an instructor, a pupil at the controls and further observers. It was an early vehicle, and the first German production tank, the Pz.Kpfw.I, grew from its chassis.
Because the interior is fully exposed, it pays to paint and pick out the engine compartment and the running gear carefully before the tub is finished. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. The open structure positively invites washes and pigments to bring out the rivets, the mechanisms and the traces of use.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
