An injection-molded plastic kit of the Iraqi T-55 tank in the Al Faw modification, known as Enigma, with add-on armor, in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. The configuration is based on a Soviet-built hull. The set contains photo-etched parts, clear parts, individual track links and faithfully rendered welds and hull surfaces; the decals cover several options.
Enigma was an Iraqi modification of the Soviet T-55 tank from the period of the Iran-Iraq War and the Gulf War. The vehicle received massive blocks of add-on armor on the turret as well as the hull, meant to raise its resistance to anti-tank weapons. The characteristic angular armor modules gave the tank a distinctive, easily recognizable look quite unlike the standard T-55.
First finish and paint the running gear, and only then fit the blocks of add-on armor. Assemble the individual track links patiently; glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay down the base coat with an airbrush over a primer; bring out the desert shades with washes into the recesses, fine pigments for dust and light emphasis on the edges of the armor modules.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
