The Achzarit is an Israeli heavy armored personnel carrier created by rebuilding captured Soviet T-55 tanks. The turret was removed and the hull adapted for carrying infantry, with the armor markedly thickened and a weapon station added against lightly armored and unprotected targets. The vehicle was also given a more powerful engine for better mobility. The aim of the design was maximum protection for the dismounting infantry in the most dangerous stretches of a battlefield, which made the Achzarit one of the best-protected carriers of its day.
Assemble and fine-tune the running gear and the lower hull before closing it up and painting. The busy armor and the rear exit compartment are rewarding for shading and weathering. Bring the Israeli desert gray Sinai Grey finish to life with panel variation and a gloss varnish under the decals. Build the weathering with dark washes into the seams, a dry brush on the edges and dust pigments on the running gear and the lower parts.
