An injection-molded plastic kit of the L1500S light truck in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer MiniArt. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. MiniArt is among the manufacturers who, on vehicles of this type, rely on a fine breakdown of parts, so count on a slower and more careful build rather than on a weekend project. The number of parts, the extent of the decal sheet and the number of color schemes are given on the box.
The L1500S was a light truck with a load capacity of around 1.5 tons, classed among the standardized utility vehicles of the German army of the first half of the 1940s. It was powered by an inline gasoline six-cylinder of roughly two and a half liters. The letter in the designation distinguishes the rear-wheel-drive form from the heavier all-wheel-drive form. Vehicles of this kind served to carry materiel and people, in the medical service and as a chassis for box bodies. Only a few examples have survived to the present day, and most of the photographic documentation comes from period pictures.
Finish and paint the chassis, the engine and the interior of the cab before you close the bodywork up, as you will not reach them later. Cut the thin frame parts off with a sharp cutter and glue them with a liquid cement for plastic that is drawn into the joint by capillary action. Once dry, apply a primer, which unifies the surface and reveals any scratches. Spray the base shade with an airbrush in several thin coats, then bring the areas to life with a lighter cast in the middle of the panels. At the end come a dark wash into the engraved lines, fine wear on the edges and dust pigments on the wheel arches and the underside of the vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
