A self-propelled howitzer joins a gun to a tracked chassis, and that changes the way of fighting: a battery takes up a firing position, shoots off its task and moves before the enemy can fix it. The M109 family has served with the US Army since the 1960s and has gone through long development. The M109A7 step is the newest of it so far; it was given a new chassis and drivetrain, which shares features with the tracked vehicles of the Bradley family, so it is easier to maintain and carries greater weight and the demands of modern equipment. In the turret the 155 mm howitzer with its long barrel and massive muzzle device remained.
The set brings the whole vehicle in a state to be assembled and painted, and with it tracks built from individual links whose joint stays workable. The finished track can therefore be threaded over the wheels and left to sag naturally, instead of holding in one stiff piece. The extent of the parts and the range of marking options are in the manufacturer's instructions.
Rid the parts of surplus material and traces of production, sand the contact surfaces and try the assembly dry before you reach for the glue. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and according to the manufacturer's instructions; on the tracks dose it sparingly, so that the joint is not flooded and does not stop moving. Build the tracks in shorter runs and paint them off the model while they are accessible. Wash and degrease the whole thing before painting. Lay the long barrel down so that it is not resting on anything and does not bend.
It will be appreciated by modelers of present-day American equipment who like a large piece in a display case. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
