An injection-molded plastic kit of the American 105 mm M2A1 light field howitzer in 1:35 scale from the Taiwanese maker AFV Club. It is a precise model of an artillery piece, supplemented by a turned metal barrel and photo-etched parts. The carriage can be built in the firing or the traveling position according to the instructions.
The M2A1, later designated the M101, was the standard American light field howitzer of the Second World War and for long decades afterwards as well. The 105 mm caliber made it the universal support weapon of infantry divisions; it was marked out by a split trail carriage, a reliable recoil mechanism and decent range. It was built in enormous numbers and served in many armies all over the world.
This is not a vehicle but a gun, so concentrate on the exact fit of the carriage, the recoil mechanism and the moving elements; think out in advance whether you want the firing or the traveling position. Glue the turned metal barrel and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic parts with a thin cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting; spray the base olive shade with an airbrush. Fidelity will be added by picking out the detail with a wash, by discreet paint chipping on the edges and by fine deposits of dust and mud pigments on the underside of the carriage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
