An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M4A1(76) Sherman medium tank in 1:35 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Asuka (formerly Tasca). The brand is among the very best at rendering Shermans; the kit comes from the proven Tasca tooling and contains photo-etched parts and belt type (one-piece) tracks.
The M4A1 is the Sherman variant with the characteristic fully cast, rounded upper hull - unlike the welded hulls of the other versions. The suffix (76) denotes the fitting of the more powerful 76 mm gun instead of the original 75 mm; it gave the tank greater penetration against enemy armor. These Shermans were committed by the Allies in the closing phase of the Second World War.
A cast hull has no sharp edges - the fine texture of the casting is helped by a matte base and by lighting effects in the painting. Assemble the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched elements with cyanoacrylate glue. For the patina use washes in the recesses, filters and pigments for dust and mud; the cast surface comes out nicely under a fine dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
